  • NTNU Nordlys tester solcelledrevet bil | FREBER

Studentgruppa Nordlys på NTNU har i løpet av to intense testdager på Rudskogen fått verdifull erfaring om sin solcelledrevne racerbil, Lumholtz. 08.08.2025 Proud students “For us, these were incredibly valuable days where we gathered lots of experience and got to know the car, Lumholtz, better. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much high-speed action. The reason was that the motor wouldn’t properly communicate with the rest of the electrical system. Towards the end of the day, we eventually managed to identify where we believe the issue lies, but we had to pack up for the day before we could fix it. Regardless, we were able to test all the mechanical systems in full operation, and we saw Lumholtz roll, steer, and brake for the very first time. All the mechanical systems were in a proven drivable state — a very proud moment for our team!” says Sivert Kverme (team leader of NTNU Nordlys). Testing solar-powered race car on track The students from Nordlys NTNU in Trondheim have, after two days of testing at Rudskogen, gained a lot of valuable experience. The solar-powered race car Lumholtz presented some challenges along the way, but overall the students are satisfied. Overall very satisfied Even though the car didn’t exactly race around the track, the students are happy with the progress. Sivert Kverme continues: “For us, Rudskogen was a success — after all, the purpose of testing is to find the flaws in the car. Rudskogen Motorsportsenter deserves a huge thank-you, not only for letting us borrow a garage, track, and providing free lunch buffet for two days, but also for extending track time on Wednesday so we’d have a chance to drive if the electrical issues were resolved! We’ve been invited back to Rudskogen and are planning a new trip in September to continue testing the car, onboard new team members, and get even more familiar with the vehicle.” The road ahead At the unveiling of Lumholtz in May, the students announced their goal of driving from Lindesnes to Oslo with the car — making it the first time a solar-powered car would be driven on Norwegian roads. “To get permission for this, we’ve had a good process with the Norwegian Motorsport Federation and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, who gave positive signals early on. However, in June, the police decided to introduce stricter regulations for all events taking place in traffic. These restrictions affect several events, including some major cycling races — and unfortunately, also us. We’ve made several attempts, but the final decision we’ve received is that we are not allowed to drive Lumholtz on highways or county roads. It’s really unfortunate, but we see no other option than to cancel the stunt — for now.” In conclusion, Sivert Kverme says they’re working on showcasing the car at Arendalsuka and in Oslo around August 12–13, to wrap up the summer and their first project in the best way possible. Present at Rudskogen during the test driving was Tobias Hordvei from Team Freber. He was very pleased to be allowed in the car. As a sponsor, Team Freber is incredibly proud of the journey we've had with Nordlys at NTNU so far and we wish them the very best for the future that lays ahead. We are looking forward to see what the future brings! Please read more, and follow the students here: NTNU Nordlys | LinkedIn NTNU Nordlys | Hjemmeside

Team Freber har vært på reisefot til Sør-Norge og Vestlandet og dokumenterer fra kundebesøk og messe. 10.03.2025 Exploring New Opportunities and Generating Interest In the days leading up to the fair, Trond and John visited several existing customers, as well as some promising new prospects, in Arendal, Kristiansand, and Egersund. These visits were an exciting opportunity to engage with innovative companies working on projects where Freber can add significant value. Our customers are involved in a diverse range of initiatives, including the development of fitness equipment, movement-tracking sensors, and even efforts to combat salmon lice. Freber provides a wide array of components, including cables, batteries, switch panels, and enclosures, serving industries such as industrial, medical, and marine sectors. This versatility allows us to play a key role in supporting our customers’ development of cutting-edge projects. Additionally, there was a particularly strong interest in our two newest segments: actuators and magnets, signaling promising growth in these areas. A Travelogue from Stavanger and Surrounding Areas As Freber embarked on its journey south, with a trade fair in Stavanger on the horizon, we saw an ideal opportunity to schedule a few customer visits along the way. With the car packed full of trade fair equipment and gadgets, two eager and knowledgeable salespeople, Trond and John, set out on their exciting road trip. Busy and Engaging Trade Fair Days The EuroExpo trade fair in Stavanger proved to be an exciting and busy event, with a steady flow of visitors and a palpable buzz throughout the venue. We were thrilled by the level of interest in our extensive range of products, particularly the magnets, which garnered an unexpectedly high amount of attention. As a result, we now have several promising leads in this product category to pursue. A highlight of the fair was the evening social gathering, which offered a great chance to share experiences with other exhibitors and forge new connections. This informal setting provided the perfect opportunity to unwind and recharge before diving into the second day of the event. On The Road Again While the second day of the fair was a bit quieter in terms of visitor numbers, we were overall very pleased with the outcome. • Leverandørbesøk hos OKW | FREBER

John Vanebo og Trond Eriksen fra Freber har besøkt OKW i Tyskland og deltatt sammen med salgsagenter fra europeiske land i spennende og verdifulle produktutviklingsmøter. 05.09.2025 With focus on customizing The main focus during the visit was to highlight the possibilities for customization and modification of the enclosures in OKW’s standard range. Through dialogue and presentations, it became clear how many opportunities there are when standard products are adapted to the customer’s specific needs. Such meetings across borders, where participants share valuable insights from their respective markets, provide the supplier with a solid foundation for further development. This is collaboration at its best, and an important contribution to ensuring that customers receive solutions that meet both technical and design requirements. Travelogue from OKW in Buchen, Germany This week, Trond Eriksen and John Vanebo from Team Freber visited our supplier OKW in Germany. Together with other invited sales agents, they participated in a two-day meeting filled with valuable idea and experience sharing. Beautiful medieval town After the professional sessions, there was time to experience the host’s hometown. OKW invited everyone on a city walk through the historic medieval town of Buchen in Baden-Württemberg. We got to see the old market squares, beautiful half-timbered houses, fountains, and the surrounding city wall. During the walk, we even learned about the annual carnival where the water in the drinking fountain is replaced with wine! All in all, the visit was a great success: we gained professional inspiration, strengthened cooperation, and experienced a city of history and charm.
